East Bay midwifery services

With so much information out there about conception, pregnancy, birth, newborns, and wellness, how do you know what’s best for you?

Our midwifery care is for everyone – but always tailored to you, as an individual, so your inner wisdom can come to the service. I know that it’s within you.

Midwifery care that TAKES AWAY the overwhelm.

I provide you with information & guidance that’s supportive of you, your choices, your values & everything else that makes you, you.

What your East Bay Full Midwifery Care package looks like

Imagine it:

You’re quietly laboring in the comfort of your own home – loved ones by your side. You are supported by a midwife that you’ve grown to know, and trust. Someone who has been there throughout your pregnancy – and will be there to support you through those early baby days, too.

Lights are low, and voices are soft. Your baby enters the world into loving hands. And, the best part, you get tucked into your own bed at the end. Is there anything better than your own bed – after a long journey?

Although we carry bags full of supplies and medications and tricks of the trade, most births don't require much intervention. After a pregnancy full of long, luxurious prenatal visits, you are prepared for your birth, meeting your baby, and navigating the fourth trimester.

No hurrying, no rushing… just a safe space.

My midwifery care always includes longer appointments – so there is always plenty of time to discuss, chat, ask questions & more.

It actually only takes 5-10 minutes to take clinical measurements, draw labs, and order ultrasounds. This leaves us plenty of time to discuss why we offer these procedures and whether they are right for you.

My style of care is based on connection. We want to hear about your life – what’s your favorite food? What are your hobbies? What’s your family like? Who's your best friend – the one who will be auntie? What are your hopes and dreams for this little baby who’s about to enter our world?

Calm, intimate, thoughtful care – start to finish.

The Full Midwifery Care package

Who will support you during your pregnancy and birth? What role will your other children play in this season of change? How will you prepare for the transformative work of early parenthood? What foods and habits will nourish you during pregnancy and nursing? What concerns does your family have about home birth — and how can we gently ease them?

Together, we’ll explore the research (I love a good deep dive!), laugh and cry over the moments that shaped you, and plan for the days ahead.

With our Full Midwifery Care package, you GET IT ALL.

The questions we answer, together. Midwife & parent.

Whether you’ve already received some OB care, or you are coming to us first, any time in pregnancy is a good time to start midwifery care. Our support is focused on what you need, and we’ll also focus on a healthy pregnancy, birth & baby.

I weave my wisdom, education & experience as a midwife into your family – to support you throughout your journey.

What Is the Cost of the Full Midwifery Care Package?

Pay it forward

My services range from $8,500 to $10,000. To determine your payment level, we use The Green Bottle Method.

I offer flexible payment plans and discounts for those who qualify for MediCal because I believe midwifery care should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income.

If you have the financial means, consider paying above $10,000. Your contribution will:

  • Help provide midwifery care for families who can’t afford it
  • Support local organizations improving access to midwifery care for Black families
  • Fund training for BIPOC midwives, which has been proven to improve outcomes for BIPOC clients and their babies while fostering culturally aligned care

Do you accept insurance?

  • PPO Plans: Most PPO insurance plans reimburse us at out-of-network rates.
  • Innovative Medical Billing: For a small fee, Innovative Medical Billing will verify your benefits and estimate your plan’s reimbursement. Find out more here.
  • HSA/FSA Funds: These are typically accepted for payment.
  • HMOs, EPOs, MediCal, and Kaiser: These plans currently do not cover Licensed Midwives. However, if you obtain a referral from your Kaiser OB, you may qualify for reimbursement.

More midwifery support options

Whether a homebirth isn’t for you… or you need more flexible options that fit into your family, discover the other ways I can support you.

How does Hybrid Midwifery Care work?

Hybrid Midwifery Care offers the best of both worlds, blending personalized midwifery support with the expertise of your OB.

During pregnancy, we’ll follow the routine prenatal care schedule while your OB handles labs and ultrasounds. Our visits focus on the deeper aspects of your care — conversations about your journey, your options, and your plans for birth and beyond.

When labor begins, you decide how your care unfolds:

  • Your midwife can provide early support at home, join you at the hospital for your birth, and continue postpartum care once you’re back home.

  • Or, if you prefer, you can rely on a doula or family team for hospital support, with your midwife resuming care in those special early days postpartum.

It’s your care, your choices, and your journey — guided every step of the way.

How much does Hybrid Midwifery Care cost?

I offer three flexible payment levels to suit your needs:

  • $6,000: For families who do not need midwife support at the hospital birth.

  • $8,500: For families who would like their midwife to attend the hospital birth as part of their support team.

  • Pay it forward: Choose to pay any amount beyond $8,500. This not only covers your care but also supports a family in need who cannot afford midwifery care.

Discounts are available for clients who qualify for MediCal.

This is a wonderful option for families who need both the deep connection of midwifery care as well as the care of an OB for health complexities or personal preference.

Hybrid Midwifery Care offers the same schedule and benefits as the Midwifery Care Package above.

Questions about your East Bay midwifery services

Who is the typical home birth client?

Every person in my care is unique, but what they share is the desire for a more intimate, personalized birth experience. My clients want to know their care provider and be respected in making their own choices. They value education and understand that care goes beyond just the clinical aspects.

Is home birth safe?

I carefully screen all my clients to ensure home birth is the right choice for them. Home birth is ideal for those without significant health complications such as high blood pressure, pre-existing diabetes, liver or kidney conditions, or heart disease. For low-risk clients, both the parent and baby are closely monitored throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth. There are always two midwives present at each birth, both fully trained to handle any complications that may arise. I carry resuscitation equipment, medications for postpartum bleeding, IV equipment, and more. Should the need arise, I’m ready to transfer care to a hospital provider to ensure the best outcome for you and your baby.

What about the mess?!

It’s not as messy as you’d think, but I know it’s important to you! My clients receive a box of supplies to help keep the birth area clean. I clean as I go, start the birth laundry before I leave, and even take care of dishes and trash. Your house might actually feel tidier than when I arrived!

Is my home right for a home birth?

Home births happen in all sorts of spaces—sailboats, tiny apartments, duplexes, and even small bathrooms! My supplies and equipment are designed to be portable, so I can follow you wherever you are. If it’s big enough for you to live in, it’s big enough for a birth. Birth isn’t as loud as you might think, and your neighbors might not even know you’re in labor until they hear your baby’s first cries!

Why pay for midwifery care when my insurance covers hospital birth?

I understand that my fee can feel like a big investment, but you’re paying for a completely different level of care. Insurance often covers care that focuses on efficiency — quick visits and interventions that prioritize minimizing costs. I don’t believe that model serves you well. The average hospital birth in California in 2024 cost between $17,000 and $50,000. When you compare that to the personalized, supportive care I offer, you’ll see that my fee is of great value. I offer payment plans and discounts for those who qualify for Medi-Cal – when you inquire, let me know, and I’ll give you more details.

Which areas of East Bay do your midwifery services cover?

I serve families throughout the East Bay, including Oakland, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Albany, San Leandro, Castro Valley, Hayward, Dublin, Pleasanton, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, and surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether you're within my service area, feel free to reach out, and I'll be happy to confirm!

Becoming a parent is profound – every step is a marker. The first two blue lines, the butterfly flutters in your growing belly, the first contraction, the skin-to-skin, the first feed, the tears, laughter, and sheer joy.

It will be my pleasure to witness you and surround you with knowledge and care in this season.
